While eating pizza at my neighbors house I couldn't help but be intrigued by the shapes of the reflections made by his lamp shade. First the light peering from the top that created a circle on parts of the wall and roof then the immediate reflection of light off the wall parallel to the actual shade and the light being reflected down. 3 ways of light each of which added to the character of the lamp.

So as i was doing a late night install of Vectorworks I forgot to turn down my computers screen brightness and as usual insomnia caused me to make observations of the shadows created.  I noticed that although the source of the light (the computer) and the fans were parallel in areas where the surface that the shadow was created on, in this case the roof, was not parallel the shadows edges were softened. As you can see in the pictures the las picture is of a different fan that is parallel and closer to the roof.

As I try to enjoy the small miracle that class this month is at 1pm a bright reflection on the roof of my apartment tries to break my hopes and dreams. For those of you that have come over you know that I have a two bedroom apartment where there are tradeoffs, downstairs a very comfortable bed awaits but the gleaming sunlight does not let me sleep. Upstairs my bed from back home and the false hope of darkness. Today I woke up to a bright room, not as bright as downstairs, but enough to annoy. The first thought that popped into my head was what if light was not diffused and all it made were strait lines... Would it be as annoying ?
